I value teaching because I believe in its power to inspire students to want more for themselves, and I believe in music because it nurtures the souls of my students and those around them.
What I Offer
Whether you’re a beginner or a long-time musician, I offer private lessons that meet you where you are.
Having presented educational content focused on chamber music and piano-specific content dozens of times, I offer interactive workshops for students of all ages. These workshops can be catered to music students or to those without musical experience. I am currently based in Brookline, MA.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that each student is unique and that my role as a teacher is to uncover a student’s talents and areas for growth so we can work towards each student’s highest potential. I believe there are many fundamental musical concepts and technical skills that all piano students should learn, but that the path each student takes to get there will vary based on their own personalities and interests. By utilizing the “warm demander” approach to establish a trusting environment where students feel inspired to meet high standards, I believe music can become an artistic and emotional outlet for students that simultaneously leads to personal growth.
I’ve developed this philosophy both in the field and in the classroom. At the New England Conservatory, I worked extensively with Tanya Maggi in the Community Performances and Partnerships department. I enrolled in her course called “Community Engagement for Ensembles,” which focused on teaching technical concepts through interactive content and storytelling. I also took a course with Angel Rivera on piano pedagogy, which dove into various teaching methods and how to determine a trajectory for a student’s development. With local pedagogue Julie Davis, I took a course on Teaching Artistry, which provided me with frameworks for lesson planning and gave me inspiration for how to engage students, assess learning, and push for growth.
